Arco's Arciducale Park recently underwent a major restoration funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan under Mission 1 - Digitization, Innovation, Competitiveness and Culture, Component 3 - Culture 4.0 (M1C3), Measure 2 “Regeneration of small cultural sites, cultural, religious and rural heritage,” Investment 2.3: “Programs to enhance the identity of places: historic parks and gardens.”
The intervention came about as a completion of a first lot executed in the year 2021 that saw the construction of the reception and services building located near the entrance.
This second lot focused on the revalorization of the existing botanical and architectural heritage, through extraordinary maintenance and implementation of the botanical species present and through the reconstruction and functional efficiency of the greenhouses placed along the boundary wall; the latter allow for the recreation of two environments with partly controlled climatic parameters, suitable for hosting in the one tropical plants typical of the Canary Islands and in the other tree ferns and essences that prefer shady and humid areas.
Thanks to the valuable input provided by the Ministry of Culture, the holder of the PNRR funding, the intervention also considered the aspects of communication and enjoyment of the park by residents, tourists, schools and scholars with the implementation of information panels with historical, scientific and management themes.
It is scheduled to reopen to the public by the first half of July 2025.
